Guitarist to perform benefit concert

Guitarist William Davila will perform a concert to benefit the Antelope Valley Symphony Orchestra and Master Chorale (AVSOMC) at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3 in the Antelope Valley College Recital Hall, FA3 162, 3041 W. Ave. K, Lancaster.

The concert, “Sketches for Guitar,” will feature Davila performing some of his own Flamenco improvisations as well as Paul McCartney’s “Yesterday,” Steve Howe’s “Mood for a Day,” “Classical Gas” by Mason Williams, “The Girl from Ipanema” by Antonio Carlos Jobim, and others.

Davila has been described as “an accomplished guitarist … both a commanding and sensitive performer” by the Los Angeles Times. He teaches guitar at the college.

Donations of $5 can be made at the door, with proceeds going to AVSOMC.
